Day One: Amman

You have arrived in Amman, the capital of Jordan, where modern and ancient worlds collide. Your adventure starts with a welcome meeting at 3 pm today at the hotel lobby we booked for you. You won’t have much time here in Amman, so you may want to come a few days earlier to see its sights. Don’t miss the citadel, where you can enjoy a stunning view of Amman city.

Day Seven: Jerash - Madaba

Today you will drive from Madaba to Jerash – an ancient Roman city that was one of the most splendid in the world. You can see some of the best-preserved Greco-Roman ruins here. The old walled city that still stands today shows you how life was 2000 years ago. It has many archways and theaters, baths, public buildings and streets with columns. It is a wonderful place to spend a day wandering around. You can see Hadrian’s arch, the partly restored hippodrome, fancy public fountains, the south amphitheater, and the daily items that were found during digging. The Oval Plaza is the main attraction of the city, with big columns around it. After a full day of sightseeing, going back to Madaba. You can enjoy a shisha with your travel friends and talk about your amazing Jordan experiences.

Day Six: Kerak - Dead Sea - Mt Nebo - Madaba

Today you will travel along the King’s Highway to the ancient crusader castle of Kerak, which sits on a cliff above Wadi Karak and the Dead Sea in the distance (about 2.5 hours). You will have time to wander around the castle ruins and learn about the old battles. Bring your swim gear as you will also visit the Dead Sea – the lowest point on Earth (420 metres below sea level). This very salty lake is a great place to relax and float on the water. If you want, you can also cover yourself with a natural mineral mud bath which is believed to be very beneficial for the skin. Next, you will go to Mt Nebo – the place where Moses is believed to have seen the ‘promised land’ and where he is buried. You can see this holy place and the amazing mosaics of the fourth-century church. Then, you will continue to Madaba, known for its Ottoman-style houses and beautiful Byzantine-era mosaics, including the famous sixth-century mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land at St George’s Church. You can also find other mosaic artworks from the fifth to seventh centuries in Madaba’s churches, museums and homes.

Day Five: Petra

You have a free day to discover Petra on your own today – you can go wherever you want. The site is very big, and you could spend a week just discovering the main trails. if you want a rewarding challenge, you can take the 1-hour walking up the steps to the hidden Monastery on the top of the Deir Mountain.

If you want to see Petra by Night, you can join the optional tour on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday. It starts from the Petra visitor center at 8:30pm.

Day Four: Petra

Today, you will leave your desert camp to travel to the legendary city of Petra by private vehicle. This city was hidden from the world until 1812, when a Swiss explorer named Johann Ludwig Burckhardt visited it. In 1985, Petra became a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the afternoon, you will have a guided tour of Petra. You will walk through a narrow path, called the Siq, that is surrounded by huge rocks. You will see the amazing Treasury facade, which is a huge and detailed entrance carved out of the rock.

Petra visit require a lot of walking, but the mysterious unique sites you will explore are totally worth the effort.

Day Three: Wadi Rum

This morning, you will wake up in the desert camp with amazing desert landscape, after breakfast, you will go for a short morning hike about 4 to 5 kilometres, through a beautiful canyon, climbing a soft red dune and enjoy a stunning view of Wadi Rum mystic mountains shapes and colours. You will stop for tea and lunch along the way. Wadi Rum is famous for its link with T E Lawrence, the British officer who was here during the Great Arab Revolt of 1917–18. In the afternoon, you will have a half-day jeep safari, start at Lawrence's house / building ruins, where your hike end. a relaxing ride through some of the most beautiful desert landscapes in the world. Wadi Rum has many strange and wonderful rock formations, and ancient inscriptions carved by different civilisations. You can see pictures, symbols, and words in Thamudic, Nabataean and Arabic languages. The most impressive monuments in Wadi Rum are made by nature – the natural rock bridges, pink sand dunes and rocky peaks. After a fun-filled afternoon, you will have a free night to experience the warm Bedouin hospitality and the clear desert sky.

Notes:

The time and distance of today’s hike may change depending on the weather and how well the group can walk. Please wear suitable, strong, and comfortable shoes for the walk. If you don’t feel like hiking, you can stay at the Bedouin Camp and relax, you will be picked up for the jeep tour later today to join others.

Day Two: Wadi Rum

Today, you will leave Amman and travel to Aqaba, the only costal city in Jordan. You will join your group leader for a guided walk around the lively market and the seaside. Then, you will have some free time to enjoy this city as you wish. You can snorkel in the Red Sea, shop at the local markets, or relax by the water.

Later, you will depart for Wadi Rum and arrive in time for dinner. You will have a special opportunity to meet some of the local Bedouin and learn about their desert lifestyle. You will stay overnight in a simple Bedouin desert camp, where you can choose to sleep in a bedouin-style tent or under the stars. You will also enjoy a dinner cooked in a barrel underground the traditional way, it's called "Zarb". The Bedouins are a semi-nomadic people who have a strong connection to the desert. The desert camp is a simple desert accommodation but the hospitality of your hosts and the beauty of the night sky will make it an unforgettable experience. all the camp facilities are 100% solar powered.

You will travel for about 5 hours today. At the Bedouin camp, You will have Bedouin-style tent with a simple comfortable bed and blankets. The desert can get cold at night, even if it is hot during the day. So, bring warm clothes, especially if you are not traveling in summer. You can use Western-style toilets and solar panel showers at the camp.
